Overview
The Service department is vital to our business. From first‑time fixes to delivering excellent customer service, Service Technicians/Mechanics play a pivotal role in delighting customers and encouraging their continued loyalty.
Responsibilities
- Use diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle faults.
- Test parts and systems to ensure correct working.
- Follow checklists to ensure all critical parts of vehicles are examined.
- Carry out bumper‑to‑bumper overviews, service and inspection.
- Maintain electronic systems including on‑board entertainment.
- Repair and maintain vehicle parts, including clutches, gearboxes, tyres, brakes and suspension.
- Complete legible and accurate paperwork for customers and centre records.
- Maintain a clean and tidy working environment.
Training and Qualifications Received
- Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard in Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle)
- Certificate in Automotive Refrigerant Handling
- Brand‑specific certifications
Future Prospects
Volkswagen Group offers a wide range of career opportunities. After completing the apprenticeship, apprentices can progress to team leader or manager roles and may also join the Head Office in Milton Keynes.
Qualifications Required
GCSE grades 9–4 (A–C) or equivalent in English, Maths and Science. In Scotland, applicants must have Scottish National 5 Grades A–C or above in English, Maths and either a Science or Technical subject.
