Position Overview
A well-established, privately held manufacturing and distribution organization is seeking an Executive Vice President of Sales to serve as the senior-most sales leader within the company. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this individual will be responsible for driving revenue growth, developing and executing sales strategy, leading and developing the sales organization, and expanding key customer relationships across multiple channels and markets.
The EVP of Sales will play a critical role in shaping the company's growth strategy, identifying new business opportunities, strengthening customer partnerships, and enhancing overall sales performance. This leader must be equally comfortable operating at a strategic level while remaining actively involved in customer engagement, contract negotiations, and business development activities.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies designed to achieve and exceed revenue and profitability objectives.
- Establish annual sales budgets, forecasts, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Monitor sales performance and implement corrective actions as necessary to achieve business goals.
- Identify and pursue new market opportunities, customer segments, and growth initiatives.
- Evaluate market trends, competitive activity, and customer needs to maintain and expand market share.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sales organization.
- Recruit, retain, and develop top sales talent while building succession plans for critical sales leadership positions.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement throughout the sales function.
- Provide ongoing coaching and performance management to drive individual and team success.
Customer & Market Management
- Serve as the voice of the customer within the organization and champion customer-focused initiatives.
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key customers and strategic accounts.
- Lead negotiations and participate directly in securing major contracts and business opportunities.
- Collaborate with customers to identify opportunities for growth, product enhancements, and expanded partnerships.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Marketing to develop and execute sales programs, promotions, and go-to-market strategies.
- Collaborate with Product Development and Operations teams to support new product introductions and product improvement initiatives.
- Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to guide strategic business decisions.
- Support pricing strategy, merchandising initiatives, training programs, and customer engagement efforts.
Executive Leadership
- Serve as a member of the executive leadership team and contribute to overall business strategy.
- Participate in the development of annual operating plans as well as long-term strategic plans.
- Provide regular reporting and communication regarding sales performance, forecasts, market trends, and business opportunities.
- Ensure alignment between sales objectives and overall company goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field required; MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive sales leadership experience with a demonstrated track record of driving revenue growth and profitability.
- At least 5 years of experience leading sales teams at a senior leadership level.
- Experience within the tools, hardware, automotive, consumer products, industrial manufacturing, or related industries strongly preferred.
- Proven success managing and growing relationships with large retail, distribution, and national account customers.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful sales strategies that result in measurable business growth.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and business acumen.
- Strong analytical capabilities and experience utilizing CRM systems, sales reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Reporting Structure
Reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
