We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Crane Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair cranes and heavy lifting equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience working with hydraulic, diesel, electrical, and electronic systems on mobile, crawler, rough terrain, all-terrain, or truck-mounted cranes.

This role is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment failures, completing repairs efficiently, and ensuring cranes operate safely and reliably while minimizing equipment downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair cranes, lifting equipment, and related heavy machinery.
  • Perform preventive maintenance services, including fluid changes, lubrication, filter replacement, and scheduled inspections.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, diesel engine, electrical, and electronic control system issues.
  • Repair or replace defective components, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, hoses, winches, brakes, bearings, and driveline components.
  • Inspect and repair crane booms, outriggers, wire ropes, sheaves, hooks, and lifting mechanisms.
  • Perform electrical diagnostics using OEM software, multimeters, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Read and interpret hydraulic schematics, wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Conduct operational and safety inspections to ensure equipment meets company, manufacturer, and regulatory standards.
  • Complete detailed service reports, maintenance records, and repair documentation.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and shop supplies.
  • Work closely with operations personnel to prioritize repairs and minimize equipment downtime.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Provide emergency field service repairs when required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience repairing cranes, heavy equipment, construction equipment, or diesel-powered machinery.
  • Strong mechanical, hydraulic, diesel engine, and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance and equipment diagnostics.
  • Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics, electrical diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency using diagnostic tools and computerized service equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • CDL is a plus.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay: $29.09 – $45.03 per hour
