Role Description The Vehicle Maintenance Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Accra, responsible for overseeing the maintenance and reliability of the company’s vehicle fleet. This role includes planning and supervising daily maintenance activities, scheduling preventive maintenance, and ensuring timely repairs to minimize vehicle downtime. The Vehicle Maintenance Manager will coordinate with drivers and logistics teams to monitor vehicle performance, maintain accurate service records, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. The role involves managing maintenance staff, sourcing parts and services, and optimizing maintenance procedures to control costs and extend vehicle life. The manager will also identify improvement opportunities, implement maintenance standards, and support overall operational efficiency in the transport function.
Qualifications
- Strong supervisory skills with experience leading maintenance or technical teams.
- Proficiency in equipment maintenance, with hands-on knowledge of vehicle systems and components.
- Demonstrated ability in preventive maintenance, including scheduling and monitoring service intervals.
- Experience in maintenance management, including planning, documentation, and coordination of work orders.
- Skilled in maintenance and repair of commercial vehicles, with the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues.
- Relevant technical or vocational training in automotive engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field; professional certifications are an advantage.
- Knowledge of safety standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices for fleet operations.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with attention to detail and record-keeping.
- Ability to work on-site in Accra and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
