Tata Electronics (a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd.) is building India’s first AI-enabled state-of-the-art Semiconductor Foundry. This facility will produce chips for applications such as power management IC, display drivers, microcontrollers (MCU) and high-performance computing logic, addressing the growing demand in markets such as automotive, computing and data storage, wireless communications and artificial intelligence.

SUMMARY:
Technical Sourcing Manager will lead procurement operations for equipment, services within the semiconductor manufacturing supply chain. This role involves overseeing supplier management, contract negotiations, cost optimization, and risk mitigation while ensuring alignment with the company’s operational and financial goals. The manager will work closely with cross-functional teams and global stakeholders to ensure the seamless supply of equipment and high-quality materials to support production.
Key Responsibilities
1. Contract Negotiation:
- Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers, ensuring the best possible terms for pricing, delivery schedules, and quality.
- Draft, review, and manage contracts and agreements in compliance with company policies and legal regulations.
2. Cost Management & Optimization:
- Lead initiatives to reduce procurement costs without compromising quality, delivery, or operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with technical sourcing, finance team, and other stakeholders to align sourcing decisions with budgetary goals and financial forecasts.
- Continuously identify and implement cost-saving initiatives while ensuring the supply of high-quality materials.
- Perform cost analysis and benchmarking to ensure competitive pricing and overall value.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with technical sourcing, IE (production), and logistics teams to ensure alignment between sourcing strategies and operational needs.
- Provide commercial guidance to technical sourcing and procurement teams on supplier management, contract negotiations, cost optimization, risk mitigation and potential alternative sourcing options.
4. Supply Chain Risk Management & Strategic Planning
- Identify and mitigate supply risks including geopolitical exposure, capacity shortages of high-purity components, and EOL items.
- Develop contingency plans for critical materials and components to prevent production delays.
- Monitor market conditions and emerging trends to proactively address potential supply chain risks.
- Integrate OEM roadmaps with the company’s technology and capacity planning.
5. Data‑Driven Sourcing & Business Analysis
- Build data models using PM history, MTBF/MTTR, spare‑part usage, and supplier performance metrics.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to analyse cost drivers, and improvement opportunities.
- Apply analytical tools (Excel, SAP and JMP preferred) for cost analysis, risk mitigation, and supplier scorecards.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Deep understanding of service contract negotiation skill & sign off process.
- Familiar with major OEM equipment platforms.
- Understanding of semiconductor process integration and the impact of cross-contamination/particles on yield.
- Proficient with analytical tools (Excel, SAP or Oracle ERP beneficial).
SCM / Business Skills
- Strong capability in cost modelling, TCO analysis, and commercial negotiation.
- Experienced in long‑term supplier strategy, contract management, and global sourcing operations.
- Skilled in supply chain risk analysis and mitigation planning.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and cross‑functional leadership.
- Strong analytical thinking with data‑driven decision‑making.
- High ownership and resilience in a fast‑paced, high‑volume manufacturing environment.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
- 5–10+ years of hands-on experience in semiconductor metrology/inspection equipment engineering or technical procurement.
- Proven track record of improving tool uptime or significant chemical cost-saving projects.
