ABOUT THE ROLE
The Vehicle and Facilities Technician will support Compal USA’s automotive engineering and demonstration programs by maintaining company vehicles, facilities, and technical equipment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring readiness for product testing, customer demonstrations, and trade show preparation. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on experience with vehicle systems, and general facility maintenance skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle Support
- Maintain and prepare Compal’s test and demo vehicles (e.g., Prius, Nautilus concept) for daily use and events.
- Install, remove, and calibrate infrared camera systems, data loggers, and supporting sensors.
- Conduct pre- and post-test vehicle inspections and system diagnostics.
- Manage vehicle cleanliness, safety checks, and transportation logistics (trailers, shipping prep, etc.).
- Coordinate with engineering teams to assist in wiring, bracket mounting, and prototype builds.
Facilities & Workshop Maintenance
- Perform general facility maintenance tasks, including minor repairs, painting, lighting, and workspace organization.
- Maintain the garage, tools, and test equipment in safe and operational condition.
- Support the setup of new workstations, shop tools, and lab areas as needed.
- Manage shipping/receiving of technical equipment, vehicle components, and event materials.
Operational Support
- Assist with event and demo preparation (packing, loading, booth setup, power requirements, etc.).
- Maintain inventory of tools, spare parts, and consumables.
- Ensure compliance with safety and facility policies.
- Support vendors and contractors during facility upgrades or vehicle modifications.
Qualifications
· Associate’s degree or technical certification in automotive technology, mechatronics, or equivalent hands-on experience.
· 3+ years of experience in vehicle maintenance, prototype builds, or technical support.
· Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and basic diagnostic tools.
· Ability to use hand tools, fabrication tools, and vehicle diagnostic equipment.
· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (CDL or trailer towing experience a plus).
· Forklift or equipment operation experience preferred.
· Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proactive attitude.
