We're building the future of unmanned aviation in Vietnam — and we need a technical leader to make it happen. FPT UAV Division is looking for a System Director to own the full technical integrity of our UAV platform portfolio: X-URBAN (urban multirotor), X-FIELD (agricultural sprayer), and X-CARGO (long-range delivery VTOL). This is a rare opportunity to shape an emerging industry from the ground up — and leave a lasting mark on the skies of Vietnam, Japan, and Korea.
About the Role
You are the single point of engineering accountability — from market requirements all the way to certification authorities, customers, and supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Define and govern the reference architecture across all three UAV platforms
- Own the full SE lifecycle (ARP4754A/B): requirements → design → integration → V&V
- Lead certification pathways: CAAV (Vietnam), JCAB Level 4 (Japan), KC/RRA (Korea)
- Drive DO-178C / DO-254 design assurance and JARUS SORA safety cases
- Set supplier technical governance and protect our IP boundaries
- Build, lead, and grow the Systems Engineering team across Hanoi and Shenzhen
This is not an individual-contributor role. You own the function, the team, and the outcomes.
Qualifications
12–15+ years in systems engineering for complex embedded electromechanical systems (UAV/aerospace, automotive ADAS/ECU, robotics, or comparable safety-critical domains)
Required Skills
- Led multidisciplinary teams (SW, HW, mechanical, controls) through full product lifecycle to production
- Deep command of INCOSE practice, ARP4754A/B, MBSE — applied to real hardware
- Hands-on experience with a formal certification or homologation regime (DO-178C/254, JARUS SORA, ISO 26262, or equivalent)
- Cross-domain fluency: flight control, autonomy/perception, datalink/C2, payload, power/thermal
Preferred Skills
- Direct UAV / eVTOL / aerospace certification experience (CAAV, JCAB, EASA, FAA)
- Automotive EE architecture or functional safety background
- Experience with export-control environments (Japan / Korea / US)
- Comfort operating across Vietnam–China cross-border engineering setups
Pay range and compensation package
Location: Hanoi, Vietnam (with oversight of the Shenzhen supply-chain & architecture hub)
Reports to: Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
