About Haian Rubber Group

Haian Rubber Group is a global leader in the manufacturing and lifecycle management of giant off-the-road (OTR) mining tyres. We provide integrated tyre solutions to the world’s largest open-pit and underground mining operations, partnering with Tier-1 miners to maximise equipment availability, safety, and total cost of ownership.

The Role

We are seeking a seasoned Site Manager to serve as our accountable representative on site at the Mine Field. You will hold full operational and technical accountability for the daily management, maintenance, and performance of our ultra-large OTR mining tyre fleet. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep technical expertise, rigorous safety discipline, and strong commercial acumen in a remote mining environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • On-Site Accountability: Act as the Contractor’s sole accountable representative on site; serve as the primary point of contact for all tyre-related operational, technical, and commercial matters with the mine operator and client stakeholders.
  • OTR Fleet Management: Oversee the daily management, inspection, fitting, removal, repair, and preventive maintenance of giant-class OTR mining tyres to ensure maximum equipment availability and operational uptime.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and supervise on-site technical crews and subcontractors; drive team performance management, rostering, and competency development in a remote rotational environment.
  • Safety & Risk Leadership: Enforce strict adherence to safe tyre handling procedures, tyre inflation protocols, and lock-out/tag-out standards; own the site risk register and ensure all activities comply with mine site safety regulations and company HSE policies.
  • Cost & Budget Control: Manage site operational budgets, control labour and material costs, optimise inventory levels of tyre consumables, and deliver against agreed project KPIs and contract margins.
  • Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement: Prepare and present accurate operational reports, tyre performance metrics, failure analysis, and monthly site reviews to senior management, client maintenance managers, and mine planning teams.
  • Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement data-driven maintenance strategies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and contingency plans to extend tyre life and reduce unplanned downtime.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Relevant NQF Level 7 qualification in Engineering, Maintenance Management, Operations Management, or an equivalent recognised technical discipline.
  • Overall Experience: Minimum seven (7) years of demonstrated experience in mining tyre management or heavy equipment maintenance environments.
  • OTR Specialisation: At least five (5) years of specific, hands-on experience managing and maintaining large to ultra-large OTR mining tyres in active mining operations.
  • Leadership Track Record: Minimum five (5) years in a supervisory or management capacity, with proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary technical teams in remote or contract mining environments.
  • Technical & Safety Expertise: Thorough, practical knowledge of safe tyre handling procedures, heavy-lift tyre fitting/removal protocols, and proactive risk management in high-hazard mining conditions.
  • Business & Commercial Skills: Demonstrated track record in performance management (both asset and people), cost control, formal operational reporting, and effective stakeholder engagement at site and executive levels.
  • Mobility: Willingness to work on-site in Namibia on an extended rotational roster (FIFO or residential as required by project terms).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in Sub-Saharan African mining jurisdictions (Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, or DRC).
  • Familiarity with major ultra-class OTR tyre brands and earthmover tyre management systems (e.g., TyreSense, pressure monitoring, thermal tracking).
  • Formal certifications in occupational health and safety (NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent mine-site-specific qualifications).
  • Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the Southern African region.

What We Offer

  • Competitive expatriate remuneration package with site-based allowances.
  • Structured rotational schedule and remote-site conditions commensurate with industry standards.
  • The opportunity to represent a world-class tyre solutions provider on a flagship African mining project with clear pathways for career progression within our global operations.
