Role Description The Service Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the service department, including scheduling, workflow management, and resource allocation to ensure efficient and timely vehicle service. This full-time, on-site role, located in the United States, involves supervising service advisors and technicians, setting performance expectations, and supporting training and development. The Service Manager monitors service quality, addresses escalated customer concerns, and ensures that all work meets safety, manufacturer, and regulatory standards. The role includes managing departmental financials such as budgeting, cost control, and service revenue targets, while optimizing processes and implementing best practices. The Service Manager also collaborates with other dealership departments to coordinate service promotions, improve customer retention, and enhance the overall customer experience.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in automotive service management, including supervising service advisors and technicians, managing shop operations, and overseeing repair processes.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to resolve concerns, explain technical information clearly, and build long-term client relationships.
  • Proficiency in service department financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and achieving profitability and performance targets.
  • Ability to use dealership management systems, repair order software, and other relevant technologies to manage workflow, reporting, and documentation.
  • Knowledge of automotive repair practices, manufacturer guidelines, warranty procedures, and safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Leadership skills that support coaching, performance feedback, conflict resolution, and team development in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a focus on operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business, automotive technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a franchised automobile dealership service department is highly beneficial.
