We are looking for a Quality Team Leader to join our team. In this role, you will contribute to driving supplier quality excellence, leading supplier improvement initiatives, and ensuring robust problem‑solving and quality compliance across the supply base.
Impact You Will Make
- Lead, coordinate, and prioritize activities across Customer Quality Engineers, QI Handling Team, QMS Engineers, and Calibration Engineer.
- Drive customer complaints, field issues, and internal quality incidents through structured problem‑solving (8D) to timely and effective closure.
- Act as focal point for customer quality escalation, including review and approval of customer responses and corrective action plans.
- Oversee Quality Issue (QI) management process, ensuring ownership, containment, root cause, and verification of effectiveness.
- Manage and govern Quality Management System documentation, change control, and compliance to ISO 9001 requirements.
- Plan, conduct, and oversee internal audits; ensure timely closure and effectiveness of audit findings.
- Ensure calibration system effectiveness, including coverage, compliance, scheduling, and adherence to statutory and customer requirements.
- Monitor customer, internal quality, audit, and calibration KPIs and identify systemic improvement opportunities.
- Prepare and present quality performance reports, trends, and risks to management.
- Coach, guide, and develop quality team members to strengthen technical capability and adherence to quality processes.
- Maintain proactive communication with management, cross‑functional teams, and customers.
- Protect all intellectual property of the customer and company.
- Perform other ad‑hoc assignments according to business needs.
- Lead and drive Continuous Improvement (CI) projects at the Melaka (MY) site, partnering with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to deliver measurable quality and process improvements.
Our Ideal Candidate
- Minimum 5 years experience in customer quality, internal quality, QMS, or related quality engineering roles.
- Minimum 2–3 years experience leading or coordinating multi‑discipline quality teams.
- Proven experience in customer complaint handling, quality issue (QI) management, and structured problem solving.
- Hands‑on experience with ISO 9001 implementation, internal audits, and corrective action management.
- Experience managing calibration systems, equipment compliance, and audit readiness is required.
Skills/ Technical Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, internal audit practices, and QMS documentation control.
- Solid understanding of 8D, 5‑Why, 3×5 Why, RCA, Pareto analysis, and corrective action verification.
- Experience in customer quality management including complaint resolution, escalation handling, and customer communication.
- Knowledge of calibration systems, measurement equipment control, and traceability requirements.
- Data‑driven mindset with ability to analyze quality trends, KPIs, and audit findings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to interface across functions and with customers.
- Proficient in MS Office applications; able to manage and present large sets of quality data effectively.
- Knowledge of Automotive Core Tools (FMEA, SPC, MSA, PPAP, APQP) is an added advantage.
- Experience or working knowledge in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is preferred; Green Belt certification is an advantage.
