About MOBA India
MOBA India is part of MOBA Mobile Automation AG, Germany, a globally respected brand in the off-highway electronics and automation industry with nearly 50 years of innovation. The company serves leading OEMs across road construction, mining, agriculture, and aerial work platforms, and in India has grown from a small team in 2004 to a 170+ member organization serving globally recognized customers such as L&T, Ammann, Volvo, JCB, CNH, and Atlas Copco.
Role Purpose
MOBA India is looking for an experienced Quality Manager to build and lead the quality function from the ground up. This role is not limited to end-of-line inspection; it requires establishing a structured Quality Management System, introducing Total Quality Management practices, building quality processes and documentation, leading internal audits, and embedding quality across incoming, in-process, final inspection, supplier quality, customer quality, and continuous improvement activities in line with standard manufacturing expectations.
Key Responsibilities
· Build, implement, and continuously improve the company Quality Management System covering process definition, documentation, control, compliance, and governance.
· Develop quality foundation documents including SOPs, inspection standards, process maps, quality control plans, check sheets, work instructions, nonconformity handling formats, CAPA systems, deviation control, and controlled records.
· Move the organization beyond end-of-line inspection by introducing incoming quality control, in-process quality checks, stage-wise inspection criteria, process audits, and structured quality feedback loops with production and engineering.
· Deploy practical quality tools such as Control Plan, PFMEA, APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, 8D, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action systems as relevant to OEM-facing manufacturing.
· Lead internal audits, support customer audits, prepare the organization for external certification or compliance reviews, and drive closure of audit findings across functions.
· Establish quality KPIs such as rejection ppm, first pass yield, rework, supplier defects, field failures, customer complaints, warranty trends, and CAPA closure effectiveness, with regular reporting to management.
· Work closely with Production, Stores, SCM, Engineering, Service, and Management to ensure quality is built into processes rather than checked only at dispatch.
· Develop supplier quality practices including supplier qualification support, incoming inspection standards, supplier corrective action, and supplier performance monitoring.
· Ensure calibration planning, measurement system discipline, traceability, and controlled use of gauges, fixtures, and testing equipment.
· Build organization-wide quality awareness through training, documentation discipline, audit readiness, and practical implementation of standard quality practices on the shop floor.
Candidate Profile
· Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Production, or related engineering discipline; master’s degree preferred.
· 8+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing quality, preferably in industrial electronics, automotive components, off-highway equipment, or OEM-facing manufacturing environments.
· Proven experience in setting up or significantly strengthening a quality system from scratch, not only managing final inspection activities.
· Strong hands-on knowledge of ISO 9001 and practical implementation of process-based QMS in manufacturing.
· Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, Control Plan, FMEA, SPC, MSA, CAPA, NCR, 8D, and internal audit systems.
· Experience in handling customer quality expectations, audit preparation, and closure of nonconformities through cross-functional coordination.
· Strong leadership, communication, documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
· Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor qualification in ISO 9001 preferred.
· Exposure to IATF 16949-style core tools or similar OEM quality expectations is highly desirable.
· Experience in electronics assembly, rugged industrial products, or low-to-medium volume OEM supply environments is an added advantage.
Success Metrics
Within the first 6 to 12 months, the Quality Manager is expected to establish a documented QMS baseline, introduce stage-wise quality controls beyond final inspection, implement an internal audit system, define measurable quality KPIs, and drive closure of major process gaps affecting customer confidence and business scalability.
Why Join MOBA India
This role offers the opportunity to build a high-impact quality function in a growing German MNC serving respected OEMs in off-highway industries. It is suited for a quality professional who wants to create systems, influence cross-functional processes, and shape quality culture in a fast-growing product-based organization.
