StaffBright is partnering with a rapidly growing automotive manufacturer near Auburn Hills, MI to identify a skilled Quality Engineer. This is a unique opportunity to join a brand-new facility during its early stages and play a key role in building and shaping the quality function from the ground up.
What You Will Be Doing
- Support and actively participate in the APQP process for new product launches.
- Lead structured problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives to drive customer satisfaction and enhance product quality.
- Ensure compliance with ISO/TS quality system requirements and related standards.
- Develop and maintain operator work instructions, Process FMEAs, and Control Plans for production operations.
- Establish standards and methods for inspection, testing, and product evaluation.
- Support selection of measurement equipment used on the production floor and perform Gage R&R studies to validate measurement system accuracy.
- Conduct and track monthly capability studies (Cp/Cpk) to monitor process performance.
- Partner with manufacturing teams to reduce scrap and improve yield; track and report daily scrap metrics.
- Provide on-site support at customer and supplier locations to investigate and resolve quality concerns.
- Maintain and manage 8D corrective action reports, ICA/PCA activities, and continuous improvement logs to prevent recurrence of issues.
- Issue Quality Problem Notices (QPNs) to suppliers, coordinate containment actions, and support Return Material Analysis (RMA) activities.
- Support Layered Process Audit (LPA) execution and compliance.
- Track and report monthly quality performance metrics, including warranty (R/1000), plant rejects (PPM), process capability, and internal concerns (C/1000).
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What We Need From You
To be considered for this role, candidates must have the following experience and skills:
- 5+ years of experience in a Quality Engineer role within a manufacturing environment
- Strong plant-floor manufacturing experience
- Hands-on experience with PPAP, APQP, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma principles
All-Star Skillset
The ideal candidate will also have any or all of the following preferred experience and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
- Experience supporting General Motors or other Tier 1 automotive customers
