POSITION: PURCHASING LEADER (Individual Contributor)

JOB LOCATION: Sto. Tomas, Batangas, Philippines

SALARY BUDGET: OPEN

ASSIGNMENT TYPE: Full-Time/Permanent

REPORTING LINE & KEY STAKEHOLDERS:

  • Direct Reporting: Purchasing Manager (US based)
  • Dotted Line: PH Plant Manager and General Manager
  • Key Internal Partner: Local Technical Expert supporting the US team

WORK SETUP:

  • Work Arrangement: Onsite
  • Shift Schedule: Mid Shift (1:00 PM – 10:00 PM)

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute end-to-end purchasing activities for materials supporting discrete manufacturing operations.
  • Manage sourcing strategies including blanket orders, long-term agreements, and regional supplier engagement.
  • Analyze demand variability and establish appropriate stocking levels (min/max) to ensure supply continuity while optimizing inventory.
  • Procure machined components, leveraging a strong understanding of machining processes and supplier capabilities.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to ensure accurate sourcing and supplier alignment.
  • Lead supplier negotiations including pricing, delivery timelines, and payment terms while ensuring favorable commercial outcomes.
  • Proactively expedite orders, monitor supplier performance, and resolve supply disruptions.
  • Challenge suppliers when necessary, including pushing back on unfavorable conditions such as prepayment requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with technical and operations teams to align procurement strategies with production needs.
  • Provide clear rationale behind purchasing decisions and recommendations based on data and business impact.
  • Escalate supply chain risks or issues swiftly and contribute to resolution strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvement in purchasing processes, cost efficiency, and supplier performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
  • Must have purchasing experience in discrete manufacturing companies (Eg. aerospace/heavy equipment/shipbuilding/appliances/medical devices/machinery/industrial parts/industrial automation/industrial component/semiconductor/automotive/electronics manufacturing)
  • Strong, hands-on experience in material purchasing and procurement execution.
  • Proven expertise in handling blanket orders, long-term agreements, and regional sourcing strategies.
  • Solid understanding of machining processes and procurement of machined components.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Demonstrated ability in supplier negotiation, cost management, and execution of sourcing strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory planning concepts, including setting stocking levels based on demand variability and supply risks.
  • Experience in expediting orders, managing supplier relationships, and negotiating payment terms.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment with cross-functional teams.
