Job Overview
As the Product Definition Manager in Almaty, Kazakhstan, you will lead localized product strategy, responsible for end-to-end product definition, market/user analysis and product planning tailored to the Kazakhstani passenger car market. With your in-depth understanding of local market dynamics, preferences and trends, you will bridge Geely’s global capabilities with local demands to ensure product competitiveness in a market with over 200,000 annual passenger car sales and 39% Chinese brand market share.
Key Responsibilities
– Lead localized product definition: Combine Geely’s global product platform and "multi-energy strategy" with Kazakhstan’s market characteristics (driving habits, infrastructure, policies, cost sensitivity) to define product specs, configurations and positioning that meet local needs.
– Conduct market research and analysis: Dynamically monitor the Kazakhstan passenger car market (Almaty and surrounding areas), track market size, trends, competition (Hyundai, Chevrolet, Kia, etc.) and policies to provide data-driven insights for strategy adjustment, identifying opportunities and risks.
– Perform in-depth user analysis: Investigate local users’ demographics, behaviors, preferences and purchasing factors to establish user personas, understand fleet renewal demand (over 40% of fleet is over 20 years old) and translate insights into product requirements.
– Develop product planning: Formulate short/long-term localized product plans aligned with Geely’s global strategy and Kazakhstan’s market forecasts (22% production growth in 2026), collaborating with global and local teams to promote product launch, iteration and optimization.
– Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with Geely’s global product teams, local sales/marketing and suppliers to align product definition with sales targets, strategies and local production capabilities.
– Track product performance: Monitor launched products, collect user/sales feedback, analyze gaps and propose optimization plans to improve market share and satisfaction.
Requirements & Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree or above in Automotive Engineering, Marketing, Business Administration or related fields; master’s preferred.
– 3-5 years of experience in product definition, planning or market research in the Kazakhstan passenger car market, with deep understanding of local market dynamics, preferences, competition and policies.
– Proficient in market/user analysis methods, with strong data sensitivity and ability to convert data into actionable product strategies.
– Excellent communication, coordination and cross-cultural skills; able to work with global and local stakeholders; Native in Russian/Uzbek/Kazakh, English as working language.
– Passionate about automotive industry, with keen insight into trends, familiarity with Geely’s product portfolio is a plus.
– Strong sense of responsibility, proactive attitude, able to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
