ATE is seeking a commercially minded, analytical and experienced Product and Pricing Manager (Brake) to join our team in Gauteng. This role is ideal for a strong product and pricing professional with experience in the automotive aftermarket sector, excellent commercial awareness and the ability to work across multiple business functions to drive profitable growth.
The Product and Pricing Manager (Brake) plays a central role in lifecycle product management. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing pricing strategies that support profitability while ensuring the product portfolio remains competitive, relevant and attractive to customers. This position acts as a bridge between business objectives, customer needs, technical execution and commercial decision-making.
The role requires a balance of strategic thinking, market understanding, data analysis, stakeholder management and practical execution. The successful candidate will work closely with Commercial, Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, Technical, Procurement, Finance, IT and third-party partners to support product development, pricing accuracy, go-to-market execution and overall portfolio performance.
Key Responsibilities
Product Planning and Portfolio Management
• Develop and support the product strategy and vision in collaboration with the Commercial and Marketing teams.
• Manage the product lifecycle across multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage the automotive product catalogue and work with relevant stakeholders to maintain data accuracy and integrity.
• Conduct market and competitor analysis to identify trends, risks, opportunities and areas for improvement.
• Identify market gaps and opportunities for product development and prepare business proposals to support new product introductions.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Marketing, Sales and other cross-functional teams to support product development initiatives.
• Plan, execute and monitor product launches and go-to-market activities.
• Support the development of a value-driven product portfolio by balancing demand, supply, commercial priorities and customer needs.
• Drive innovation and growth within the brake product category.
Pricing Strategy and Execution
• Develop pricing strategies and clear pricing policies across the Automotive Aftermarket divisions.
• Manage pricing execution to support profitability, competitiveness and commercial growth.
• Introduce and support advanced pricing tools and technologies to automate workflows and improve accuracy.
• Drive continuous improvement within the pricing function through simplification, standardisation, elimination of inefficiencies and automation.
• Ensure all customer pricing is correctly maintained in JDE and other connected systems.
• Carefully track and manage all pricing cut-off dates and ensure timeous execution.
• Collaborate with the commercial team to create pricing proposals.
• Create tactical pricing deals proactively and collaboratively.
• Work closely with IT and relevant third parties to ensure pricing is correctly reflected in systems.
• Review and update pricing policies when required to ensure ongoing compliance and adherence.
Profitability, Cost and Margin Management
• Perform profitability and cost analysis to support informed pricing and product decisions.
• Work closely with Procurement and other departments to determine costs, mark-ups and pricing structures that support competitiveness.
• Provide margin and profitability assurance to the Sales team regarding offers, tenders and commercial opportunities.
• Collaborate with Technical, Manufacturing and Finance teams to ensure business opportunities are properly aligned and delivered.
• Work with Finance and Sales in managing rebates, pricing outcomes and profitability.
• Monitor pricing execution and margin maintenance through weekly, monthly and ad hoc reporting.
Data Analysis and Performance Management
• Analyse product, pricing, customer, market and performance data to support decision-making.
• Implement data-driven decision-making using KPIs, customer insights, user behaviour, demand signals and commercial performance measures.
• Develop and support automation tools that improve workflow efficiency and pricing accuracy.
• Provide reporting and insights that support pricing discipline, portfolio performance and business growth.
Compliance, Governance and Stakeholder Management
• Ensure product and pricing activities align with internal governance requirements and applicable local safety regulations.
• Maintain a strong focus on compliance, accuracy and accountability across product and pricing processes.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with senior stakeholders across growth, product, finance, sales and operational networks.
• Influence and collaborate across departments to ensure alignment between business goals, technical feasibility and customer needs.
• Support leadership, communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
Required Experience, Qualifications and Skills
• Commerce Degree, Honours Degree or related qualification.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a specialised Product Management and Pricing role.
• Experience working with JDE, Oracle, Power BI or SAP.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong strategic and analytical thinking ability.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Previous accountability for pricing and margin management will be advantageous.
• Strong understanding of unit economics, price elasticity and demand signals.
• Proven track record of driving measurable commercial impact, not only analysis.
• Strong ability to influence senior stakeholders across growth, product, finance and operational networks.
