Position Summary
The National Account Manager operates as a business owner for assigned accounts, leading strategic growth initiatives across multiple product categories, customer segments, and distribution channels. Reporting directly to the VP, National Accounts, this role is accountable for selling multiple brands and product categories while driving growth through strategic assortment planning, category expansion, promotional execution, and customer relationship management. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, customer-focused, entrepreneurial, and experienced managing national accounts in Mass Retail, Club, Hardware, Automotive, and Industrial channels.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies and account plans to drive profitable growth across assigned national and enterprise accounts.
- Generate new business opportunities while expanding and strengthening existing customer relationships.
- Build strong executive-level relationships by understanding customer priorities, strategic challenges, and business objectives.
- Identify key decision-makers and coordinate strategic customer meetings, including Top-to-Top presentations and business reviews.
- Own and manage customer line reviews, assortment presentations, promotional planning, and category expansion opportunities.
- Identify and prioritize opportunities across core assortment, new product launches, channel expansion, and promotional programs.
- Lead negotiations involving pricing, merchandising, promotional programs, inventory planning, and annual business planning initiatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Product Management, Supply Chain, Operations, Customer Service, and Sales Analytics teams to execute strategic growth initiative.
- Develop and deliver compelling customer proposals, market plans, presentations, and growth strategies.
- Analyze sales trends, customer performance, competitive activity, and market opportunities to drive actionable business decisions.
- Provide accurate forecasting, sales planning, and reporting to support operational efficiency and high service levels.
- Effectively manage expenses, account administration, and internal resources to maximize customer support and profitability.
- Coordinate and participate in customer meetings, internal sales meetings, trade shows, and industry events to strengthen relationships and develop sales opportunities.
- Ensure timely, professional, and consistent communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Achieve revenue, profitability, distribution, and share growth objectives across assigned accounts.
- Operate with a high level of accountability, urgency, professionalism, and customer focus in a fast-paced environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or related field preferred.
- 5–7+ years of progressive sales experience managing national or enterprise retail accounts.
- Proven track record of driving profitable sales growth and market share gains with major retail customers.
- Experience calling on Mass Retail, Club, Hardware, Automotive, or Industrial, accounts preferred.
- Experience leveraging customer analytics, sales reporting, and retail data to develop actionable growth strategies preferred.
- Strong new business development and strategic selling experience.
- Demonstrated success managing line reviews, assortment planning, promotional programs, and customer negotiations.
- Strong ownership, urgency, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical, forecasting, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to build relationships and influence decision-makers across multiple organizational levels.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and execute effectively in fast-paced environments.
- High degree of flexibility, adaptability, and accountability.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, and sales analytics tools preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 60%.
