We, at Leggett & Platt Incorporated, are searching for a Motor & Actuator Engineer within our Engineering team to help support our Automotive business. As Motor & Actuator Engineer, you will?
- Lead design and development of DC/BLDC Motors and Actuator systems for automotive applications (with focus on seating and closing applications)
- Analyze customer requirements and define product specifications
- Conduct 3D/2D design using CATIA; review drawings and manage design changes
- Evaluate validation testing (DV/PV) including durability, environmental, and performance tests and review the DV/PV plan,
- Execute Automotive APQP development processes
- DFMEA, DFM, DVP&R, BOM, Spec Sheet creation
- Evaluate motor–actuator performance
- Gear ratio analysis, torque and force calculations
- Establish and verify Motor Input ↔ Actuator Output relationships
- Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to resolve technical issues
- Manage engineering documents through Siemens Teamcenter or equivalent PLM system
- Conduct technical communication with the Zhaoqing Tech Center (China) and support cross-functional collaboration
- Provide engineering support for mass-production launch and customer feedback resolution
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- University degree in Engineering in relevant field
- Over 5 years of automotive industry experience with proven project track record
- Proficiency in CATIA (3D/2D CAD)
- Solid understanding of Automotive APQP process
- Strong understanding of DC and BLDC Motor structures and operating principles
- Mechanical understanding of actuator systems
- Gear ratios, torque, and force transmission mechanisms
- Strong communication skills with internal/external stakeholders
- Language Requirements:
- Business-level English
- Chinese (Reading, Writing, Speaking, Understanding)
- Strong advantage for frequent communication with the Zhaoqing Tech Center
- Direct experience in Motor & Actuator development for automotive applications
- Experience with Siemens Teamcenter or equivalent PLM systems
- Strong documentation and report-writing skills (DVP&R, FMEA, technical specs)
- Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and processes
- Experience working in global project environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
- High ownership, accountability, and professional work ethic
- Structured documentation and process compliance mindset
- Ability to work effectively in a global engineering environment
