Role Description The Melbourne and VIC Business Development Manager (BDM) role is a full-time, on-site position based in Truganina, VIC. The BDM is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities across Melbourne and the wider VIC region, building strong relationships with transport industry clients, and promoting Trail-Link’s product range. Day-to-day activities include visiting existing and prospective customers, presenting technical product information and pricing, preparing quotes, negotiating commercial terms, and maintaining a robust sales pipeline. The role also involves monitoring market trends, collaborating with internal teams on customer feedback and product improvements, and reporting on sales performance and territory growth. The successful candidate will work closely with management to execute regional sales strategies and represent the Trail-Link brand professionally at all times.
Qualifications

  • Proven experience in business development, territory management, or field sales, ideally within transport, automotive, or industrial products.
  • Strong skills in relationship building, client account management, and stakeholder communication.
  • Ability to understand and explain technical product features and benefits in a clear, customer-friendly manner.
  • Competence in planning sales activities, managing a pipeline, and using CRM or sales reporting tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly within Melbourne and the VIC region.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team.
  • Solid numeracy and commercial acumen to support quoting, negotiation, and margin awareness.
  • Relevant qualifications in business, sales, or a related discipline are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Previous experience in a family-owned or SME environment and knowledge of electrical connectors or transport components is a plus.
