Mission of the Role:

Lead, organize, and coordinate Mechanical Engineering activities throughout the product development lifecycle, ensuring the successful delivery of Visteon products in accordance with agreed Cost, Quality, and Timing objectives. Drive technical excellence, team development, and operational efficiency while supporting business growth and customer satisfaction.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Quality and robustness of Mechanical Engineering designs and project deliverables.
  • Compliance with Mechanical Engineering budget targets.
  • Mechanical Bill of Materials (MBOM) compliance versus established objectives.
  • Achievement of project milestones and delivery schedules.

Key Year One Deliverables:

  • Develop and implement a Mechanical Engineering team development roadmap aligned with organizational needs and future capabilities.
  • Achieve project quality objectives and maintain KPI performance at or above target levels.
  • Establish consistent resource planning, performance monitoring, and technical governance practices across the team.

Key Objectives of this Role:

  • Lead and manage a team of Mechanical Engineers supporting Visteon’s European automotive programs.
  • Ensure team performance meets quality, cost, and delivery expectations.
  • Conduct regular project and design reviews to assess progress, risks, and technical readiness.
  • Define individual goals, manage performance evaluations, and support career development planning.
  • Assess competencies and create development plans to strengthen technical and leadership capabilities within the team.
  • Provide technical coaching, mentoring, and guidance on mechanical design and product development challenges.
  • Manage forecasting, capacity planning, and budget tracking for Mechanical Engineering activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on engineering efficiency, quality, and process compliance.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report key engineering metrics to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Identify, develop, and implement Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) opportunities to improve product cost competitiveness without compromising quality or performance.
  • Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams, customers, suppliers, and global engineering organizations.

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Strong technical expertise in the mechanical development of electronic products, preferably within the automotive or consumer electronics industries.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD design tools and mechanical design methodologies.
  • Solid knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and engineering drawing creation.
  • Working knowledge of CAE, including structural analysis, thermal simulation, and HIT
  • Minimum of 3 years of people management and team leadership experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a structured engineering approach.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent verbal and written English.
