Scope of Role

As a Mechanical Mechanical Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for the complete ownership, coordination, and delivery of all mechanical components associated with ECU and sensor systems. This includes bracket design, mounting solutions, packaging feasibility, and mechanical integration throughout the full product lifecycle. You will work closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams to ensure successful development, validation, and release of mechanical components.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate all mechanical design and delivery activities related to ECU brackets, sensor mounts, and vehicle packaging.
  • Own end-to-end mechanical integration of assigned ECU and sensor systems, ensuring alignment with vehicle architecture and program requirements.
  • Manage supplier development, including design reviews, feasibility assessments, DFMEA alignment, and validation planning.
  • Review and approve supplier designs, including CAD models, GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and mounting concepts.
  • Ensure compliance with OEM standards for durability, vibration, thermal performance, corrosion, and ingress protection.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Electrical, Software, Diagnostics, Vehicle Integration, Manufacturing, Service).
  • Track mechanical deliverables, prototype maturity, and validation status across program milestones.
  • Support packaging studies, clash checks, and digital mock-up (DMU) reviews.
  • Drive issue resolution through root-cause analysis and corrective actions in collaboration with suppliers.
  • Ensure timely release of components in PLM systems and maintain BOM and drawing documentation.
  • Support DV/PV validation activities, including test planning and review of test reports.
  • Maintain delivery roadmaps, including risk identification and mitigation planning.
  • Lead cross-functional meetings, supplier reviews, and integration workshops.
  • Ensure alignment with manufacturing and service teams regarding feasibility and serviceability.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in automotive mechanical design, packaging, or component integration.
  • Strong expertise in bracket design, mounting strategies, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
  • Experience working with suppliers in component development, including design reviews and validation.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as CATIA, NX, or Creo.
  • Experience with DMU/packaging environments.
  • Knowledge of mechanical validation standards (vibration, thermal, corrosion, durability, IP ratings).
  • Understanding of ECU and sensor integration constraints (thermal, vibration, wiring routing, accessibility).
  • Experience with PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Enovia) for BOM and drawing management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate across multiple teams.
