This Mechanical Engineer role offers the opportunity to design, implement, and sustain mechanical and electromechanical systems that directly impact production efficiency and product reliability. The position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on problem solving, vendor collaboration, and driving continuous improvement on the plant floor.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and coordinate fabrication and installation activities to ensure equipment and systems conform to engineering designs and specifications.
  • Collaborate with planning and design staff to develop tooling and equipment that enable efficient manufacturing processes.
  • Engage with vendors to specify, procure, and evaluate equipment, materials, and parts to meet quality and performance standards.
  • Apply statistical methods to assess equipment capability and forecast maintenance or mold repair needs.
  • Research and analyze equipment designs, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility and optimal application.
  • Design mechanical systems and interfaces including controls, robotics integration, thermal/hydraulic systems, and machine-software interactions.
  • Plan and direct engineering personnel in fabrication, testing, and development of methods and procedures for equipment and control apparatus.
  • Coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair activities to maximize equipment utilization and eliminate recurring malfunctions.

Must-Have Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related discipline).
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience in an industrial or automotive parts environment.
  • Proven proficiency with CAD tools for mechanical design.
  • Hands-on experience specifying and evaluating production equipment; strong vendor relations skills.
  • Practical knowledge of mechanical systems (motors, drives, hydraulics, thermal systems) and machine interfaces.
  • Ability to apply statistical methods to estimate equipment capability and support reliability analysis.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with PLC programming, instrumentation, and process utilities.
  • Familiarity with robotics integration and control systems.
  • Background in automotive manufacturing standards and quality systems.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance strategies and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., PE, Six Sigma) or experience with continuous improvement programs.
