Position Overview

A growing manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Operations Manager to oversee production activities across multiple facilities in Southeast Michigan.

This role is responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations, developing production teams, and driving performance across safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and workforce development. The successful candidate will provide leadership to supervisors, team leaders, and production personnel while ensuring operational goals are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Production Leadership

  • Oversee daily manufacturing operations across multiple facilities.
  • Ensure production goals are met while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
  • Manage workflow, labor utilization, and production priorities to support customer requirements.
  • Monitor operational performance and implement improvements to increase productivity and reduce waste.
  • Drive accountability for safety, quality, throughput, and on-time delivery.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, team leaders, and production employees.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and employee development initiatives.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Partner with Maintenance, Quality, Shipping, Customer Service, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Resolve production-related issues and remove barriers impacting performance.
  • Support inventory management, workflow planning, and operational execution.

Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze production and labor performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and process optimization.
  • Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Science, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Proven experience leading production teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing supervisors, team leaders, and hourly personnel.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, workflow management, and operational performance metrics.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with day-to-day operational execution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting multiple manufacturing facilities or operations.
  • Background in industrial manufacturing, coatings, metals, plastics, or similar production environments.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma methodologies.
