Logistics Manager
Inbound Logistics Scheduling & Execution
• Plan and manage the scheduling of inbound material deliveries to the plant in coordination with suppliers and transporters.
• Align delivery schedules with production planning and demand forecasts.
• Manage ESO to prevent disruptions in production.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders for timely unloading, inspection, and system entry of goods.
Primary Focus:
- Imports and exports
- OEM experience a must
- Shipping line management
- Road movement coordination
- Vendor management
Rebate Store & Compliance Management
• Oversee the management of rebate stock, ensuring accurate documentation and usage.
• Enforce compliance with audit, rebate policy, and plant regulatory guidelines.
• Liaise with finance, procurement, and audit teams to maintain inventory traceability.
Claims & Countermeasure Implementation
• Track R/1000 (Rejects per 1000 units) for inbound parts and materials.
• Work with IO and quality teams to conduct root cause analysis and implement preventative measures.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce supplier-related quality issues.
Quality Assurance & Final Line Checks
• Lead quality assurance checks for inbound materials before they enter production.
• Manage final line quality inspections to prevent defective parts from affecting assembly.
• Ensure non-conformances are documented and addressed through corrective measures.
Special Supplier & Fitment Centre Management
• Oversee special conversion suppliers and track modified/customized components.
• Manage the interface between fitment centres and internal logistics teams.
• Ensure fitment outputs meet quality standards and delivery timelines.
Forecasting & Ordering
• Forecast plant material requirements based on sales forecasts and production plans.
• Coordinate with P&A and procurement teams to ensure timely and accurate ordering. Maintain inventory visibility and control to avoid shortages or overstocking.
• Team Supervision & Reporting
• Supervise logistics and quality personnel responsible for inbound and miscellaneous components.
Develop and share dashboards and reports on:
• Delivery lot adherence
• Mismatch of lots into plant
• R/1000 performance
• Quality check results
• Supplier delivery & quality performance
Qualification:
Minimum NQF Level 6 (Diploma / Degree) in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Business Management and/or related field
Experience:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in logistics or supply chain management
At least 2–3 years in a managerial/supervisory role
Proven Experience:
Automotive, manufacturing, or distribution environments
High-volume logistics operations
Experience must be clearly detailed on the CV
Technical Skills & Competencies
Strong Knowledge:
Logistics and distribution management principles
Warehousing and inventory control systems
Experience:
ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, or similar)
Transport management systems (TMS)
Knowledge:
Fleet and route optimisation
Import/export and customs processes
Supply chain analytics and reporting
