Lead Smog & Repair Technician (STAR Certified) Jobs in Los Angeles, CA at Temple Auto Repair & Smog
We are a family-owned STAR Certified Smog Check & Repair station that has proudly served the Los Angeles community for more than 20 years. Our shop has built a reputation for honest service, loyal repeat customers, and high-quality emissions diagnostics and repairs.
We are looking for an experienced STAR Certified Smog & Repair Technician who wants more than just another technician job. This is an opportunity to become the lead technician responsible for the day-to-day operation of an established shop with a steady customer base.
Pay between $25 – $35/hr + Labor Commission (Negotiable based on Experience)
You’ll be responsible for independently managing the daily workflow of the shop, including:
- Perform STAR-certified smog inspections
- Diagnose and repair emissions-related failures
- Perform check engine diagnostics
- Diagnose and repair EVAP systems
- Diagnose electrical issues related to emissions systems
- Replace oxygen sensors and perform emissions repairs
- Perform general automotive maintenance as needed
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding repair recommendations
- Maintain accurate repair documentation
Qualifications
Required:
- Current California STAR Smog Inspector License (0.4 and higher)
- California Smog Repair Technician License
- Minimum 2 years of professional automotive repair experience
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Valid California Driver License
- Ability to work independently with minimal/no supervision
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
Preferred:
- ASE Certifications
- Experience with emissions diagnostics
- Experience operating a STAR station
- Ability to prioritize work efficiently
