Our growing team at VDM Cargo Solutions is looking for a vibrant and dedicated Junior Pricing Controller to join us. We’re an international standard, maritime, and customer-focused freight forwarding and clearing company based in beautiful Brackenfell Cape Town, South Africa..
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1 to 3 years of experience in freight forwarding who enjoys negotiating rates, preparing top-notch quotations, and thriving in a fast-paced environment.
🌟 What You’ll Be Doing (Your Daily Magic):
Hunting for the Best Rates: Obtain freight rates from shipping lines, airlines, co-loaders, and subcontractors.
Master Negotiator: Negotiate competitive rates with our valued service providers.
Customs Whisperer: Liaise with the customs department regarding HS Codes and duty confirmations when required.
Client Champion: Acknowledge RFQs received from clients and provide them with regular, reassuring updates throughout the quotation process.
Quotation Guru: Prepare and generate accurate, professional quotations.
Smooth Operator: Ensure successful quotations are handed over seamlessly to the operations team for flawless execution.
Relationship Builder: Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with both our suppliers and clients.
🎯 What You Bring to the Table (Requirements):
Experience: A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a pricing role within clearing and forwarding (this one is non-negotiable).
Expertise: Experience pricing import and/or export shipments. (Exposure to both imports and exports across multiple transport modes? That’s a huge bonus!)
Incoterms Knowledge: A sound understanding and working knowledge of Incoterms is non-negotiable.
Soft Skills: Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
Cool Under Pressure: The ability to work accurately under pressure and gracefully manage multiple quotations simultaneously.
