In- Shop Mechanic – Heavy Equipment and Tools Jobs in Tampa, FL at RENTALEX
Rentalex is seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining large construction and industrial equipment such as excavators, ariel equipment and backhoes. This is a hands-on role that requires a high level of technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail. Key Responsibilities:
· Diagnose and Repair: Identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues with heavy equipment, including construction machinery, earth-moving equipment, and tools. Perform necessary repairs and replacements.
· Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal performance and reduce downtime, including oil changes, lubrication, and filter replacements.
· Troubleshooting: Use diagnostic tools and your expertise to troubleshoot issues, such as engine failures, transmission malfunctions, and hydraulic leaks.
· Parts and Supplies: Identify and order the necessary parts for repairs and maintenance. Work closely with the parts department to ensure timely availability of items.
· Safety Standards: Follow all safety guidelines and procedures while working on heavy equipment. Ensure that all machinery is in safe working condition before returning it to service.
· Record Keeping: Maintain accurate service records, including work orders, parts inventory, and maintenance logs for each piece of equipment serviced.
· Collaboration: Work closely with the operations and logistics teams to ensure that equipment is serviced and repaired in a timely manner to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
· Customer Service: Communicate effectively with customers, explaining issues with their equipment and the repairs needed in a clear and professional manner.
Qualifications:
· Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, with expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining large machinery and industrial vehicles.
· Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components.
· Ability to use diagnostic tools, hand tools, welding equipment, and heavy machinery tools effectively and safely.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work independently and efficiently under minimal supervision.
· Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to customers and team members.
· Ability to lift and move heavy equipment as needed (physical requirements apply).
· Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Certification in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment repair, or a related field.
· Experience with a variety of heavy equipment brands and types.
· Welding or fabrication skills are a plus.
