Human Resources and Payroll Coordinator

Serra Ford Farmington Hills is seeking a highly organized and detail‑oriented Human Resources Coordinator to support our dealership’s HR, payroll, benefits, and compliance functions. The ideal candidate will manage daily HR operations, process accurate payroll, and provide accounting support in a fast‑paced, high‑volume dealership environment. This position is 100% in person/on-site in Farmington Hills, MI

Responsibilities

Payroll

Process weekly and monthly payrolls with accuracy and timeliness

Verify hours worked, PTO, deductions, bonuses, and adjustments

Process and ensure accuracy of all payroll taxes (federal, state, local, Social Security, Medicare)

Process and verify benefit deductions each pay period (medical, dental, vision, 401k, etc.)

Maintain updated payroll records in compliance with federal and state regulations

Process new hires, terminations, pay changes, and employee updates

Reconcile payroll‑related accounts

Handle wage garnishments and related documentation

Experience With Paylocity Preferred But Not Required

Human Resources

  • Oversee employee onboarding and offboarding, ensuring all forms and compliance documentation are completed
  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment and HR‑related inquiries

Support employee relations, policy communication, and HR compliance tracking

Provide ongoing support to employees and management

  • Manage job postings, screen candidates, and assist with interviews as needed

Accounting Support

  • Perform payroll‑related journal entries and reconciliations
  • Verify accuracy of payroll expense allocations

Collaborate with different teams on reporting needs, including benefits, medical, payroll, and other compliance‑related audits.

Ensure financial records tied to HR and payroll are complete and error‑free

Experience In CDK Is Preferred

Benefits Administration

Support employees during open enrollment annually and new hire benefit selections

  • Process benefit changes, qualifying life events, and terminations
  • Maintain accurate benefit records for medical, dental, vision, and additional plans
  • Assist with 401(k) onboarding, eligibility tracking, and administrative coordination
  • Ensure compliance with benefit‑related deadlines and reporting requirements
  • Communicate benefit information clearly and professionally

Job Requirements

Strong knowledge of wage laws, payroll taxation, and HR compliance

Experience in payroll and/or human resources required (1-2 years required)

Exceptional attention to detail

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and related platforms
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities

Professional appearance and demeanor; reliable and punctual

Prior experience in Paylocity and CDK is a plus
