Step into the shoes of a Heavy Equipment Mechanic at Foss Recycling, where your proficiency in diagnostics and repairs makes a direct impact. You will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, and maintaining our expansive range of heavy-duty metal recycling equipment. This includes:
Your hands-on expertise will not only prevent downtime but will also drive our commitment to efficient recycling processes.
- Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, balers, compactors, and conveyors.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
- Inspect equipment regularly to identify potential issues and perform preventive maintenance.
- Repair or replace damaged or worn parts, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
- Conduct welding, cutting, and fabrication as needed for equipment repairs.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records for all equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with operational staff to schedule and prioritize equipment repairs to minimize downtime.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven experience as a Diesel or Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
- Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines and mechanical components.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- MUST have your own tools
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Certification as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic preferred.
- Extensive experience in repairing and maintaining heavy-duty equipment.
- Minimum of 5 yrs. heavy equipment experience
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 – $33.00 per hour
