Our client is part of a publicly listed international group operating across the automotive and mobility sectors. With a strong presence across multiple markets, the company specializes in automotive distribution, services, and related commercial operations. As part of its continued European expansion, the group is currently establishing its operations in Austria and building a local team to support long-term growth.

About the role:

We are looking for a Head of Sales to lead the commercial launch and growth of the Austrian business. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for defining and executing the national sales strategy, developing the dealer network, driving commercial performance, and building a high-performing sales organization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the national sales strategy aligned with the company's business objectives.
  • Lead the development, expansion, and optimization of the dealer network across Austria.
  • Build, manage, coach, and develop the local sales organization.
  • Own the national sales budget, forecasting, and commercial planning.
  • Drive sales performance and ensure achievement of revenue, volume, profitability, and market share targets.
  • Establish strong relationships with dealer principals and key strategic partners.
  • Monitor dealer performance and implement initiatives to improve sales effectiveness, customer experience, and operational excellence.
  • Define pricing strategies, sales campaigns, incentive programs, and go-to-market initiatives in collaboration with Marketing and Product teams.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activity, customer insights, and industry developments to identify growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, Aftersales, and Product teams to ensure a consistent commercial strategy.
  • Represent the company externally with dealers, industry stakeholders, and key business partners.
  • Provide regular reporting and strategic recommendations to senior management and international leadership.

Requirements:

  • MUST: 8-10+ years of experience in automotive sales, including several years in a senior commercial leadership role (Head of Sales, National Sales Manager, Commercial Director, or similar).
  • MUST: Strong experience managing and developing dealer networks on the OEM, importer, or distributor side.
  • Proven track record of delivering commercial growth, achieving ambitious sales targets, and leading high-performing sales teams.
  • Experience developing sales strategies, managing budgets, forecasting, and commercial planning.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to inspire, coach, and develop teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience working across international and cross-functional organizations.
  • Strong commercial acumen combined with a strategic and hands-on approach.
  • Fluent German and professional working proficiency in English.
  • Degree in Business, Automotive Management, or a related field is a plus.
