With growing demand and an expanding product portfolio, the business is investing heavily in its production capability and is now seeking a Head of Production to lead manufacturing operations from its Oxfordshire facility.

The Role

The Head of Production will take ownership of the entire production function, leading workshop operations, production planning, build quality and delivery performance.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a strong understanding of vehicle manufacturing, low-volume production environments and operational excellence.

You will lead a skilled multidisciplinary production team while working closely with engineering, procurement and programme management functions to ensure vehicles are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest possible standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall production function, ensuring vehicles are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
  • Manage and develop a multidisciplinary workshop team, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Plan and oversee production schedules, workshop capacity, resource allocation and build priorities.
  • Manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) and support production readiness across multiple vehicle programmes.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to support prototype builds, design changes, technical handovers and manufacturing feedback.
  • Ensure parts availability through effective collaboration with procurement and supply chain teams.
  • Maintain high standards of quality control, health & safety and workshop operations.
  • Monitor production KPIs and implement improvements to drive efficiency, productivity and delivery performance.
  • Manage production budgets, inventory, tooling and equipment requirements.
  • Support the scaling of manufacturing capability, processes and team structure as the business continues to grow.
  • Drive a culture focused on quality, craftsmanship and operational excellence.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience as a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager or Head of Production within the automotive sector.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle build processes and manufacturing operations.
  • Experience within low-volume, high-value or bespoke automotive manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience managing workshop, production or manufacturing teams.
  • Strong project or programme management capability.
  • Experience managing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and supporting production planning activities.
  • Excellent organisational, planning and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment.

Desirable

  • EV, electrification or high-performance vehicle experience.
  • Experience scaling manufacturing operations.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Exposure to prototype, pre-production or low-volume vehicle programmes.
  • Experience working closely with engineering and product development teams.
