The Opportunity
We are conducting a confidential executive search on behalf of a high-tech, high-growth automotive manufacturing organization that has recently secured a significant new round of investment and is entering a critical phase of accelerated expansion.
Over the next 12–18 months, the business will scale operations, expand manufacturing and engineering capabilities, and continue positioning itself at the forefront of innovation within the automotive, electrification, and advanced mobility sectors.
To support this next phase of growth, the company is seeking a Head of Corporate Development to lead strategic capital initiatives, investor engagement, and long-term growth strategy.
This role will operate at the intersection of strategy, finance, and business development, partnering closely with the CEO, executive leadership team, and Board of Directors to support capital raising, investor relations, strategic partnerships, and potential M&A activity.
The organization already has a strong Corporate Controller leading operational finance, allowing this position to focus heavily on capital markets strategy, investor sourcing, and strategic growth initiatives.

Role Overview
The Head of Corporate Development will lead the company’s efforts around capital strategy, investor engagement, strategic partnerships, and corporate transactions.
The successful candidate will operate as a trusted strategic partner to the CEO and Board, helping guide the organization through future financing events, strategic investments, and long-term value creation initiatives.
The role will involve building relationships with investors, structuring capital raises, identifying strategic opportunities, and supporting complex corporate transactions that enable the company’s continued growth.
This position is ideal for a candidate with a background in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or corporate development within high-growth or capital-intensive industries.
Key Responsibilities
Capital Strategy & Fundraising
- Lead capital raising initiatives, including equity financing, venture capital investment, private placements, and strategic investment partnerships
- Identify and engage institutional investors, venture capital firms, private equity groups, and strategic partners
- Develop and maintain relationships with current and prospective investors
- Support the CEO and Board in structuring and executing future capital events
- Assist with the development of capital structure strategy and long-term financing plans
Investor Relations & Capital Markets
- Serve as a key liaison between the company and investors, analysts, and capital market stakeholders
- Lead development of investor presentations, financial narratives, and capital market communications
- Support board communications and investor reporting requirements
- Help position the company for potential future public market or strategic liquidity events
Corporate Development & Strategic Growth
- Identify and evaluate strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and commercial alliances
- Support potential mergers, acquisitions, and strategic investments
- Manage the full transaction lifecycle, including:
- Market and target analysis
- Financial modeling and valuation
- Due diligence coordination
- Deal structuring and negotiation
- Post-transaction integration planning
Strategic Planning & Market Analysis
- Conduct market analysis, competitive intelligence, and industry research
- Build financial models to support strategic initiatives, capital allocation, and growth investments
- Provide insight to leadership regarding industry trends, competitive positioning, and emerging opportunities
Grants & Government Funding
- Identify and pursue federal and state grant programs, incentives, and funding opportunities relevant to EV, advanced manufacturing, and technology development
- Work alongside finance and legal teams to support applications and compliance
Executive & Board Partnership
- Operate as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team
- Support board-level strategic discussions and capital planning
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, finance, and commercial teams to support corporate growth initiatives
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in capital markets, strategic finance, and corporate transactions, ideally gained through investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or corporate development roles.
Key Requirements
- Experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or corporate development
- Demonstrated experience with capital raising, investor engagement, or capital markets transactions
- Strong financial modeling, valuation, and deal structuring capabilities
- Experience supporting M&A transactions, strategic partnerships, or corporate investments
- Ability to communicate effectively with investors, board members, and senior executives
- Strong commercial and strategic mindset with the ability to operate in a high-growth environment
- Experience in automotive, manufacturing, mobility, technology, or industrial sectors is highly desirable
- Familiarity with venture financing, private placements, or strategic investment structures
- Knowledge of federal and state funding programs within EV or advanced manufacturing sectors is beneficial
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field (MBA strongly preferred)
Location: Greater Metro Detroit, Michigan
Compensation: $280,000 – $400,000 base (negotiable based on experience)
