The Company
 
This organisation is an Australian business which was formed over 20 years ago to provide products, solutions and services to customers in all regions of Australia. They are currently looking to recruit an Executive General Manager – Supply Chain, based in the head office in Melbourne. This role will have end to end operations responsibility from supply chain management, operations, planning, purchasing and logistics.
 
The Role
 
This role is a critical hire, reporting directly to the CEO, and will work directly with members of the executive leadership group, focus on the following key responsibilities:

  • Lead the supply chain across all states and operations (Warehouses and Hubs) to ensure the products are delivered on time, in a safe environment and with high quality, whilst optimising inventory across the network.
  • Develop several significant opportunities for the business to optimise the operation and supply chain and reduce costs whilst improving delivery performance.
  • Manage the performance of the operation with clear accountability based on:
    • Planning and Inventory control
    • Volume increase
    • Cost and price variance
  • Support and lead an operations-based team across planning/procurement, engineering, warehouse & logistics, quality & safety to achieve/exceed KPI’s and deliver on productivity targets and operational improvement.
  • Working with key stakeholders including external partners, customers, senior leaders, commercial suppliers and service providers to identify opportunities to improve product availability, reduce costs and deliver new initiatives to support the business.
  • Lead the overall Operations team to achieve objectives and strategic goals.
  • As the Executive General Manager – Supply Chain, and a key member of the leadership team, prepare reports and input to the strategic plan and annual budget for the function.
  • Develop and implement annual plans and manage and report on variance to standard, costs, safety, projects and other KPI’s on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Identify and drive opportunities to reduce costs without compromising on levels of safety, service and productivity targets.
  • Establish and manage a capital expenditure program that supports the strategic plan of the business and ensure that all projects are effectively managed to deliver against the business case of approved Capex requests.

 
Your Background

To be successful in this role you must have extensive Supply Chain leadership experience with a proven track history of leadering a diverse and remote team whilst improving performance and reducing costs.

  • Tertiary qualified, ideally in business where they can use their qualifications and experience to lead growth and improvements across the supply chain.
  • Open to industry experience but it must be closely aligned such as automotive, building products, consumer products or FMCG industries.
  • It is important that the successful candidates have experience across all of supply chain and operations, from supplier through to customer.
  • They must have experience leading change and transformation, driving improvements across the supply chain.
  • Understanding of the quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives across operational environments.
  • High level communication, able to work in collaboration with a range of stakeholders, both internally and externally from the organisation.
  • Able to work with a diverse leadership group, able to influence and drive strategies in conjunction with the ELT.
  • Solutions driven, able to work through problems effectively and efficiently.
  • Strong leadership ability, able to inspire and improve performance through people and process.
  • Commercial with an analytical skill set.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship development.
  • Must be hands on and lead from the front.
