Overview of the Role
Reporting to the Head of Retail Automotive, the Commercial Vehicle Dealerships General Manager (Dealer Principal) is responsible for leading and managing the Chery Commercial Vehicles (CCV) dealership operations in Laos. The role has full accountability for both sales and after-sales functions, ensuring outstanding customer satisfaction, operational excellence, and achievement of business objectives. The successful candidate will drive business growth and profitability through the strategic promotion, sales, service, and distribution of commercial vehicles, parts, and related services while developing a high-performing team and maintaining strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and the manufacturer.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Marketing
- Lead, direct, and motivate the dealership team to achieve sales targets and operational objectives.
- Ensure customers receive exceptional service and maintain high standards of professionalism across the dealership.
- Conduct regular management meetings to review business performance and implement improvement initiatives.
- Establish performance objectives for team members and identify training and development opportunities.
- Support sales teams in closing key deals and evaluating trade-in vehicles where required.
- Develop and coordinate training programs to enhance sales effectiveness and product knowledge.
- Oversee vehicle display, merchandising, and showroom presentation to maximize customer engagement and sales opportunities.
- Manage advertising campaigns, promotional activities, and brand awareness initiatives.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify opportunities for growth.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and CCV representatives.
After-Sales Operations
- Ensure the after-sales business consistently achieves financial and operational performance targets.
- Monitor departmental performance through P&L reviews, KPI analysis, operational controls, and manufacturer reporting.
- Implement corrective actions and improvement plans to address performance gaps.
- Drive customer satisfaction through service excellence and operational efficiency.
- Maintain a strong understanding of after-sales KPIs and their impact on dealership profitability and customer retention.
Customer & Dealer Management
- Build and maintain a dealership image that strengthens the CCV brand and aligns with customer expectations.
- Maintain regular engagement with key clients to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally.
- Maintain a robust sales tracking and prospecting system to grow the dealership’s customer database.
- Provide regular market intelligence and customer feedback to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with all CCV dealership standards and operational requirements.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts in line with company objectives.
- Review monthly financial performance with department managers and drive accountability for results.
- Manage vehicle inventory, parts, and accessories to optimize stock levels and profitability.
- Ensure effective debtor management and adherence to company credit policies.
- Take full responsibility for achieving dealership financial and profitability targets.
People Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing dealership team.
- Ensure effective workforce planning, recruitment, training, and succession planning.
- Address employee performance, conduct, and development matters in a timely and professional manner.
- Foster a positive workplace culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Support the development of local leadership talent and knowledge transfer initiatives where applicable.
Background and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline.
Experience & Skills
- Significant experience in senior automotive or commercial vehicle dealership management with responsibility for both sales and after-sales operations.
- Strong understanding of modern automotive retail and commercial vehicle industry practices.
- Proven experience building and developing dealership operations in challenging or emerging markets.
- Demonstrated P&L management experience with strong commercial and financial acumen.
- Ability to create a workplace environment that encourages employee development and high performance.
- Excellent customer relationship management, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, analytical, and decision-making capabilities.
- Fluent English language skills are essential.
- International experience or experience working within Asia is highly desirable.

The role is based in Vientiane, Laos, and leads the Chery Commercial Vehicles (CCV) dealership business, encompassing vehicle sales, after-sales service, and parts operations. Travel is required for approximately 10% of the time, including occasional regional and international travel. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in the growth and development of the commercial vehicle market in Laos while building strong partnerships with customers, suppliers, and manufacturer stakeholders.
