Job Description: General Manager – Korba & Jagdalpur

Role: General Manager + Field Sales
Base Location: Korba, Chhattisgarh
Market Coverage: Korba and Jagdalpur, with extensive field travel
Industry: Automotive spare parts distribution with direct affiliations to the after‑sales networks of multiple large automotive OEMs and companies.
Compensation Structure:

Role Description:
Somani Auto Private Limited is looking for a highly driven General Manager to lead field-sales-led business expansion across Korba and Jagdalpur. We're looking for a hands-on market leader who can spend significant time in the field and in the office to re-establish the acquired market and additionally build retailer and mechanic relationships to drive sales growth, improve collections, and create a strong market presence in both territories.
Korba & Jagdalpur are supported by active automobile and truck parts trade channels, and the role requires practical territory-level selling capability in industrial and transport-linked markets. The Jagdalpur responsibility adds a second market with different distribution and relationship dynamics, so the candidate must be comfortable adapting route plans, product focus, and channel strategy market by market.
Objective:
The objective of this role is to grow revenue, profitability, market coverage, and channel strength in Korba and Jagdalpur through disciplined field execution, people leadership, territory planning, and commercial control.
Key responsibilities:
- Drive primary and secondary sales through direct market visits and strong field presence.
- Build and expand retailer, mechanic, transporter, and fleet-owner relationships in Korba and Jagdalpur.
- Develop route plans, beat plans, and market visit calendars to ensure productive territory coverage.
- Identify white-space opportunities for new dealer appointments and dormant account reactivation.
- Improvement in offtake by promoting the right product mix based on local market demand.
- Work closely with internal teams on inventory planning, order fulfilment, dispatch follow-up, and urgent customer requirements.
- Ensure achievement of monthly and quarterly sales targets, collection targets, and market development goals.
- Monitor pricing discipline, contribution margins, credit exposure, and overdue receivables.
- Lead local sales teams and coordinate daily reviews, weekly planning, and performance accountability.
- Resolve market issues related to availability, claims, returns, service expectations, and channel conflicts.
- Provide regular market intelligence on competition, pricing, product movement, and customer behaviour.
- Submit structured MIS on sales, collections, market visits, dealer productivity, and branch opportunities.
Field-work expectation:
This is a high-mobility role with substantial on-ground market work. The GM is expected to spend a major portion of working time in the field across Korba and Jagdalpur markets, meeting retailers, mechanics, fleet customers, and other key influencers while also reviewing internal branch execution.
The role is not designed as a desk-based branch administration position. Success depends on visibility in the market, speed of follow-up, territory ownership, and the ability to convert field activity into measurable business outcomes.
Required qualifications:
- Graduate degree in any discipline; B.Com, BBA, or equivalent business-related qualification preferred.
- MBA / PGDM in Sales, Marketing, Operations, or General Management preferred but not mandatory.
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel extensively.
- Comfort with Excel, WhatsApp-based coordination, and routine sales MIS reporting.
Experience required:
- 8–15 years of relevant experience in automotive spare parts, commercial vehicle parts, auto components, lubricants, tyres, batteries, dealership distribution, or similar channel-led businesses.
- At least 3–5 years in a leadership role handling branch, territory, regional sales, or business-development responsibility.
- Demonstrated success in field sales, dealership development, and target achievement.
- Experience in Tier-2, district, industrial, or semi-urban markets preferred.
- Prior exposure to Chhattisgarh markets, especially Korba, Jagdalpur, or nearby belts, will be a strong advantage.
