Position Summary

The General Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of the manufacturing operation, including operations, financial performance, commercial execution, safety, quality, and talent development. This role provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure the company achieves revenue growth, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and profitability goals while maintaining a strong culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong manufacturing experience, business acumen, and the ability to drive performance across multiple functions in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
  • Drive operational efficiency initiatives, lean manufacturing practices, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Ensure production schedules, inventory levels, and customer commitments are met consistently.
  • Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions to improve plant and business performance.
  • Oversee supply chain, maintenance, production planning, and quality functions.

Financial & Business Management

  • Own full P&L responsibility for the business unit or manufacturing operation.
  • Develop and execute annual operating plans, budgets, and growth strategies.
  • Analyze financial performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability and cash flow.
  • Partner with leadership to support strategic planning, capital investments, and long-term business objectives.

Commercial & Customer Focus

  • Collaborate with sales and commercial teams to support customer growth and retention.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure high levels of service and responsiveness.
  • Support pricing, forecasting, and strategic account initiatives.

Safety & Compliance

  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company regulations.
  • Promote workplace safety initiatives and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards, certifications, and regulatory requirements.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Build, develop, and mentor high-performing leadership teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead workforce planning, succession planning, and employee development initiatives.
  • Drive organizational alignment and communication across departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field required; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Proven experience managing plant operations, business units, or multi-functional manufacturing teams.
  • Strong financial acumen with demonstrated P&L management experience.
  • Experience implementing lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to lead change and drive operational improvements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and manufacturing performance metrics.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within mid-market or privately held manufacturing companies.
  • Multi-site manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Background in industrial products, engineered products, metals, automotive, HVAC, packaging, or related industries.
  • Experience leading through growth, acquisitions, or operational transformation initiatives.
