Reports To: Sr. Director of Safety
Position Summary
The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the management, maintenance, utilization, and compliance of the company's fleet, including trucks, vans, trailers, and construction equipment. This role ensures fleet assets are safe, reliable, and available to support operations while managing costs and maintaining regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the company's vehicle and equipment fleet.
- Monitor fleet utilization and coordinate vehicle/equipment assignments.
- Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate repairs with internal staff or third-party vendors.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and all vehicle regulations.
- Maintain inspection records, registrations, and driver qualification files.
- Manage purchasing, leasing, and disposal of fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Track fuel usage, maintenance costs, and overall fleet expenses.
- Utilize fleet management software and telematics to monitor performance and generate reports.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 5+ years of fleet management experience in construction, utilities, or heavy industry.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and vehicle compliance.
- Experience managing trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment fleets.
- Experience with fleet management software and telematics systems.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
- Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM).
- CDL knowledge or experience managing CDL drivers.
