Role Overview
The Electronic Components Engineer – Battery Applications will serve as the technical backbone of Telcona's component distribution and engineering support activities, with a primary focus on batteries and energy storage solutions. This role bridges deep technical expertise in electronic components with customer-facing engineering support, ensuring that our battery product portfolio and related protection circuits meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and compliance.
The ideal candidate will hold a degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, possess strong foundations in electronics and electrochemistry, and thrive in a dynamic, cross-functional environment where engineering, product management, and supplier/customer collaboration converge.
Key Responsibilities
As part of your daily work, your main responsibilities include:
- Provide in-depth technical support for battery components across various chemistries: Li-ion, LiMnO₂, NiMH, Li-Polymer, Coin cells, and Supercapacitors.
- Guide customers in component selection, capacity sizing, voltage/current profile matching, and integration with PCBs and embedded systems.
- Provide expertise for complementary components such as frequency-control parts, connectors, relays, sensors, LEDs, and electromechanical parts used alongside battery systems.
- Assist in design-in activities for applications across automotive, industrial, medical, IoT/smart home, communications, embedded systems, and energy/power management sectors.
- Ensure compatibility between batteries, charging circuits, BMS systems, and end-product requirements.
- Familiarity with international standards for various components, including automotive standard AEC-Q200, REACH, RoHS, Conflict Mineral Policy, etc.
- Support customers with technical documentation, certificates, and safety data sheets.
- Act as a technical interface between suppliers and customers to resolve technical queries, assess new product introductions, and ensure compliance and quality standards.
- Participate in product negotiations by evaluating technical performance, lifecycle, and manufacturing readiness.
- Track market and technology trends in battery innovations, charging solutions, and energy storage applications.
- Support the introduction of new product lines and training of internal teams on emerging battery technologies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (Electronics, Telecommunications, Power Systems, or related fields).
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in the field.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken); German or another European language is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of electronic components, battery technologies, and circuit fundamentals.
- Familiarity with energy storage applications, testing and measurement techniques, and component qualification.
Desired Skills & Competencies
- Familiarity with ERP systems.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities.
- Strong technical communication – able to explain engineering concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams (sales, procurement, logistics).
- Willingness to travel for customer visits, supplier audits, and trade fairs.
