Role Description This full-time Dispatcher role at Urban Cars ADL is an on-site position based in Accra. The Dispatcher will coordinate daily vehicle movements, assign drivers to trips, and ensure timely pick-ups and drop-offs in line with customer requests and company schedules. The role includes monitoring trip progress, responding to delays or route changes, and communicating clearly with drivers and operations staff throughout each shift. The Dispatcher will maintain accurate records of trips, fuel usage, and vehicle availability, and use dispatch or GPS systems to optimize routes and reduce downtime. The position also involves handling customer inquiries related to trips, escalating issues when necessary, and supporting basic reporting on operational performance.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and coordination skills to manage real-time interactions with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
- Organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple trips, priorities, and schedule changes under pressure.
- Comfort with dispatch software, GPS tools, and basic computer applications (e.g., email, spreadsheets, and reporting tools).
- Problem-solving skills to address delays, route changes, and unexpected issues calmly and effectively.
- Attention to detail and record-keeping skills to maintain accurate trip logs, schedules, and vehicle status updates.
- Ability to work on-site in Accra, including early, late, or weekend shifts as operations require.
- Previous experience in dispatch, transportation, ride-hailing, logistics, or fleet coordination is an advantage.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or coursework in logistics, transportation, or operations is a plus.
