Overview
Director of e-commerce Operations Jobs in Bainbridge Island, WA at FOIL CEDRUS
Title: Director of e-commerce Operations
Company: FOIL CEDRUS
Location: Bainbridge Island, WA
Cedrus is a pioneer in the world of personal hydrofoil equipment, allowing riders to fly above the surface of the ocean using wave, kite, sail, or electric power. Our masts are designed and manufactured entirely in-house, using some of the most advanced manufacturing methods from aerospace and automotive industries. As the business grows from a niche supplier of carbon fiber based equipment to robotically laser-welded aluminum structures manufactured in much higher volumes, we need help managing our business and technical operations. The director of E-commerce operations will be responsible for sales activities, customer service and support, order fulfillment, and forecasting & procurement. It’s an extremely complex, hands on, technical role that will blur lines of many roles and constantly evolve in this extremely new and dynamic sport.
What You’ll Do:
- Sales: respond to product inquiries and help customers find the right mast for their style, skill level, and budget. Cedrus is primarily direct to consumer (DTC), but sometimes accepts larger wholesale orders from shops.
- Order management and modification within Shopify: Cedrus masts are universal, meaning customers can choose from a variety of foils and options requiring constant order updates and modifications.
- Fulfillment: Pack boxes carefully and ensure the correct items are shipped to customers. We ship masts all over the world, and you will be responsible for accurately completing customs paperwork and commercial invoices.
- Service and Support: Foiling is a very technical sport, further compounded by the universal nature of our masts. You will help customers with a variety of challenges from product use and care questions to warranty-related issues (Cedrus has less than 1% warranty rate). With customers around the world, this is a 24/7 job requiring real patience and listening.
- Forecasting: Cedrus offers custom mast production and a variety of choices when it comes to foil compatibility. Help us forecast, manufacture, and procure our parts and products in this dynamic industry. Listen to customers, and help us identify future product lines.
- Feedback: Help the design and manufacturing team by providing accurate and constant feedback of both 1-off and recurring trends. Help us make our products better.
- General hard work, flexibility, and creativity: We’re not going to sugar coat it, Cedrus is a manufacturing startup and you will work very hard and play a meaningful role in the success of the business. You may not get to foil much, but you will learn a lot about entrepreneurship, product design, manufacturing, operations, and e-commerce from a small team of incredibly skilled technicians, engineers, and advisors. We operate very lean, which means you will need to get creative in your role to maximize efficiency in the use of time and capital.
What You’ll Bring:
- You have experience with customer service and support, ideally with technical products, industries and markets.
- You are detail oriented, to ensure customer orders are carefully managed and fulfilled.
- You have experience in e-commerce operations, from inventory management to Shopify
- You communicate clearly. E-emails, phone, and even text at times. You are a good writer and can articulate challenging topics to your team and customers.
- You are curious, open, and interested. You want to help Cedrus by exploring new tools and processes from Shopify plugins to support ticketing platforms.
- You do not rely on AI. We’ve tried it-it’s not there yet. We believe that humans are better at this job than data centers.
- You have strong morals and ethics; we’re not in this for the money, we’re doing this to make the best products on the planet.
- You are a problem solver.
- You have the ability to recognize problems that are not solvable, and ask for help.
- You’re in or near Seattle or the Kitsap Peninsula. While the job may begin as a remote position in the form of customer service, ultimately you will need to be local to fulfill orders, perform, and be an active member of our small team.
Why Cedrus:
We innovate unlike any other brand in the sporting goods industry. We move fast, obsess over details and optimization, and manufacture to the highest quality with the lowest environmental impact. We work extremely hard, we learn a lot, and we are rewarded with happy customers and amazing foil sessions.
