The Plant Director role will be responsible for the performance of one of our key plants in Aguascalientes. This is a high-impact role that is ideal for someone with previous experience in larger plants, manufacturing management experience, strong change management skills, and experience working with unions. Additionally, individuals with a strong background in Quality and Lean/Six Sigma would excel in this role.
Role Responsibilities:
- Primary responsibility for a manufacturing facility and accountability for overall performance to business targets.
- Directs and coordinates overall plant operations, consisting of all aspects of production activity.
- Ensures that objectives are achieved at the optimal cost consistent with quality and safety requirements.
- Develops, recommends, and executes on short- and long-range plans concerning plant space, equipment, staffing, and other resources.
- Ensures all approved plans are properly implemented, monitors results against planned goals, and takes corrective action when necessary.
- Strives for continued profit improvement through the development and/or implementation of cost control measures to reduce the cost of labor, material, or overhead.
- Maintains plant inventories at optimal levels to meet anticipated customer needs without overinvesting.
- Delegates authority to key managers and supervisors in production, production control, finance, maintenance, and related operations.
- Develops and maintains a favorable employee relations climate and community relations.
- Minimizes lost time accidents and takes prompt action to eliminate unsafe acts or conditions.
- Maintains all plant buildings, equipment and grounds. Assures company compliance with all appropriate regulations.
- Keeps informed of new techniques in production processes and related plant operations. Implements those that have the potential to improve operating results.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- 5+ years of managerial experience in a plant or manufacturing operations environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with union plant environments is strongly preferred
- Leadership development experience
- Self-starter – Solutions-oriented
- Experience in the effective implementation of lean processes and change management
- Multi-Process Manufacturing experience
- Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt Certified or Equivalent
- Experience in leading the plant through strategy development and KPI’s
- Demonstration of skills in prioritization and planning
