Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Device Model Engineer to develop, validate, and optimize compact transistor models for advanced semiconductor process technologies. The role involves device characterization, SPICE model extraction, compact model development, silicon correlation, process technology enablement, and model validation to support next-generation ASIC, SoC, RF, automotive, AI, and high-performance computing applications.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in CMOS device physics, compact modeling, TCAD simulation, SPICE model development, statistical modeling, and semiconductor process technologies. You will work closely with Process Integration, Device Engineering, PDK, CAD, EDA, Physical Design, and Design Enablement teams to deliver production-ready models used by global chip design organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain compact transistor models for advanced CMOS and semiconductor process technologies.
- Perform device characterization, parameter extraction, and model calibration using silicon measurement data.
- Generate and validate BSIM, PSP, HiSIM, RF, and passive device models for digital, analog, mixed-signal, and RF applications.
- Correlate SPICE simulation results with silicon data to ensure model accuracy across multiple process corners.
- Support Process Design Kit (PDK) development by delivering production-ready compact models and documentation.
- Work with Process Integration, Device Engineering, TCAD, CAD, and EDA teams to improve technology modeling accuracy.
- Perform statistical model development including Monte Carlo, mismatch, variability, and corner modeling.
- Validate transistor behavior across voltage, temperature, reliability, aging, and process variations.
- Investigate silicon discrepancies, perform root cause analysis, and improve model robustness.
- Develop automation flows for parameter extraction, model generation, and validation.
- Support customer enablement by resolving modeling-related technical issues.
- Participate in technology qualification, node migration, and new process development activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor Physics, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
- 5 12 years of experience in semiconductor device modeling or compact model development.
- Strong understanding of CMOS device physics and transistor operation.
- Experience supporting advanced semiconductor technology platforms.
