Responsibilities
- Designing components using CATIA V5 and/or 3DX, with a focus on surface design.
- Designing parts always considering their mechanical requirements and DFM.
- Assisting in creating engineering assemblies – from hardware components to bond models.
- Helping to design molds, masters, and tooling for production (you might get involved in the process end to end).
- Working through the development phase, supporting everything from prototypes to full-scale production.
- Collaborating with the CAE team to improve and optimise designs.
- Supporting senior engineers with their projects and picking up new skills along the way.
- Attending client meetings to discuss progress and challenges.
- Joining internal team meetings to track progress and plan next steps.
- Helping to manage and maintain technical documentation for projects.
- Defining tolerances and requirements for designed components.
- Performing system tolerancing definition, including tolerance stack studies.
- Understanding materials and manufacturing processes needed for the components.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in design engineering, ideally with exposure to composites or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of CATIA V5 (especially the GSD module).
- GD&T knowledge.
- Experience working with CAE tools or exposure to engineering iterations with a CAE department is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an eye for detail.
- Some experience in designing for manufacturing (experience with molds, tooling, or fixtures is a strong plus).
- Someone who enjoys working in a team but can also handle projects independently.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Passionate about technology and eager to learn about advanced composite materials.
