The Role:

The Data Scientist will join the Vehicle Propulsion and Energy Data Analytics team, focusing on high‑voltage batteries and electric drive systems. This role plays a key part in improving vehicle quality and customer experience by transforming large‑scale fleet data into actionable insights for developers and product designers. You will work closely with a collaborative, enthusiastic team and apply advanced data science techniques to deliver faster, more reliable feedback on software and hardware performance.

Area of Responsibility

  • Perform exploratory and confirmatory statistical analysis on large fleet datasets to understand vehicle and battery behavior
  • Build predictive models using machine learning and statistical techniques to assess and forecast vehicle system performance
  • Develop clear, insightful data visualizations to communicate complex findings to technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Write, review, and maintain high‑quality Python code following best practices
  • Design and maintain dashboards and automated analytics pipelines to provide continuous feedback on software and hardware quality
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, developers, and product teams to support data‑driven decisions
  • Actively participate in code reviews and contribute to knowledge sharing and team development

Knowledge / Experience

Core Skills

  • Strong experience in exploratory and statistical data analysis
  • Proficiency in Python with clean, readable, and maintainable coding practices
  • Experience with PySpark, SQL, and ETL data pipelines
  • Hands‑on experience with scientific computing libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, and Polars
  • Data visualization expertise using Matplotlib and Seaborn
  • Familiarity with Databricks, Jupyter notebooks, and distributed computing environments
  • Basic proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows

Desirable / Meritorious Skills

  • Experience in the automotive, diagnostics, or vehicle data domain
  • Knowledge of high‑voltage battery systems, including analytics, design, assembly, or repair
  • Applied experience with machine learning and statistical modeling
  • Experience developing software on Linux systems
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS
