Position Summary

The Senior Control Function Verification Specialist verifies vehicle and powertrain control functions and diagnostics before they are implemented on the powertrain controller. The role covers both conventional powertrains (natural gas and diesel engines) and electrified powertrains (hybrid systems), and is responsible for the end-to-end verification and validation of software strategy, diagnostics, and network management.

Key Responsibilities

Test Design & Execution

  • Validate the testability of checklists provided by function experts, identifying and resolving missing elements, ambiguities, and inconsistencies.
  • Test new engine and vehicle functional content, including the creation of automatic checklists for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) testing.
  • Test software functionality using virtual ECUs (vECU), following a Software-in-the-Loop (SIL)-like approach.
  • Design and execute no-regression tests using simulated engine cycles.
  • Operate remotely accessible HiL benches via remote-access tools (e.g., TeamViewer).

Quality, Compliance & Reporting

  • Monitor and track non-conformities through to closure.
  • Ensure all verification activities comply with company standards and templates.
  • Issue formal test approvals or request revisions where requirements are not met.
  • Maintain clear evidence and traceability of all verification activities.
  • Produce comprehensive reports covering test plans, procedures, and results for verification and validation activities.

Collaboration

  • Liaise with development teams to clarify requirements and align on functional expectations.
  • Work closely with other team members to maximize quality and avoid schedule delays.

  • This role is accountable for ensuring that agreed-upon functions perform to defined Quality KPIs and meet customer expectations across multiple product segments.

  • The role requires strong communication skills to build effective working relationships with technical specialists and managers, both within the company and with external partners.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering preferred, with a focus on the automotive sector.
  • 8–12 years of experience in the automotive sector in a similar role.
  • Strong written and spoken English, as the role operates in an international context.

Required Technical Knowledge

  • Software V-cycle development process.
  • Model-based development concepts, including MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow.
  • Engine functionality and electronic components for hybrid architectures (e.g., eDrives, energy storage systems).
  • Vehicle electronic architectures and communication protocols: CAN, SAE J1939, SAE J1979, LIN, and xCP.
  • Functional safety and security standards: ISO 26262 and ISO 14229.
  • Diagnostic standards, including UDS (Unified Diagnostic Services).
  • Cybersecurity standard ISO 21434 and related methodologies, such as secure update, secure boot, and secure communication, along with supporting algorithms (e.g., ECC 256, AES 128).

Preferred Technical Knowledge

  • Automatic control concepts and optimal control theory.
  • Bosch's ASCET model-based development tool.
  • Automotive SPICE process framework.
  • Control Desk and Automation Desk test automation suites.
