Senior Lumber Buyer

Lumber prices never sit still. We need someone who can read the market and buy smart when they move.

RoMac Building Supply has been family-owned since 1945. Today we’re one of the largest independent building suppliers in Florida, and we keep adding locations and markets. Every new yard needs lumber, so this job matters more every year.

This is a senior buyer’s role with real authority. You set the strategy, make the calls, and answer for the results.

What you’ll own

  1. Buy dimensional and framing lumber and panel products for the whole company, plus the raw stock that feeds our truss and panel plants at every location.
  2. Decide when to buy and how much. Spot buys, block buys, seasonal programs — you call it, and you’re the one protecting our margin when prices swing.
  3. Negotiate pricing, volume, terms, and delivery with mills, distributors, and brokers.
  4. Build the supplier bench. Deepen the relationships we already have, and go find new ones before we need them.
  5. Work with operations, production, and finance to forecast demand and keep inventory tight. No stockouts. No dead cash sitting in the yard.
  6. When a supplier’s quality or delivery slips, you’re the one who chases it down and fixes it.
  7. Report to leadership on pricing, risk, and where the savings are.

What we’re looking for

  1. 7+ years buying lumber or wood products. Multi-location or high-volume experience is a plus.
  2. 5+ years reading the lumber market. You understand commodity pricing and know how to time a buy.
  3. A sharp negotiator, comfortable with data, forecasting, and ERP/inventory systems.
  4. Someone who takes ownership and tells it straight.
  5. A degree in supply chain, business, or forestry helps, but experience matters more.

  • Location: On-site in Leesburg, FL. This is a hands-on role, not a remote one.
  • Travel: Occasional trips to mills, suppliers, and trade shows.
  • Relocation: Package available for the right person.
  • Compensation: Competitive base plus performance bonus, based on experience.
