About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior CFD Aerodynamics Analyst to join our Vehicle Performance & Aerodynamics team.
The successful candidate will be the technical focal point for external aerodynamics simulation and development activities across the entire commercial vehicle portfolio, including Light, Medium and Heavy-Duty vehicles. The role combines advanced CFD simulation expertise, wind tunnel testing coordination, homologation support, project management, and supplier coordination.
We are looking for a passionate engineer with a strong background in vehicle aerodynamics, capable of driving complex technical activities with a high degree of autonomy while working effectively within a multidisciplinary and international environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and perform advanced CFD simulations for external vehicle aerodynamics applications.
- Support aerodynamic development activities across all vehicle ranges, including Light, Medium and Heavy-Duty platforms.
- Execute CFD studies required for vehicle certification and homologation processes, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and internal procedures.
- Manage the complete CFD workflow, including geometry preparation, meshing, simulation setup, execution, post-processing, validation and reporting.
- Develop, maintain and continuously improve CFD models, methodologies and best practices.
- Act as the primary technical interface with the Iveco Homologation Department for aerodynamics-related activities.
- Plan, organize and coordinate wind tunnel testing campaigns, working closely with internal teams, testing facilities and external partners.
- Correlate CFD predictions with experimental data and ensure continuous improvement of simulation accuracy.
- Coordinate and supervise engineering activities performed by external suppliers and service providers.
- Manage project schedules, priorities and deliverables, ensuring activities are completed on time and to the required quality standards.
- Present technical recommendations and results to engineering teams, project stakeholders and management.
- Contribute to innovation initiatives and the development of future aerodynamic methodologies and processes.
Required Qualifications
Education
Master’s Degree in one of the following disciplines:
- Aerospace Engineering
- Aeronautical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Automotive Engineering
- Equivalent engineering qualification
Professional Experience
- Minimum 7 years of proven industrial experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
- Demonstrated experience in external aerodynamics applications within the automotive, commercial vehicle or transportation industries.
- Proven track record in managing complex engineering projects and interacting with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience coordinating activities performed by external engineering suppliers and consultants.
- Experience planning and managing wind tunnel testing activities is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency with:
- STAR-CCM+
- ANSA
- Strong expertise in surface and volume mesh generation for complex vehicle geometries.
- Deep understanding of CFD methodologies applied to external vehicle aerodynamics.
- Experience in CFD model validation and correlation with wind tunnel and experimental test data.
- Familiarity with vehicle homologation and certification processes related to aerodynamic performance.
- Experience working in High Performance Computing (HPC) environments and managing large-scale simulation campaigns.
- Knowledge of scripting and process automation tools is considered a plus.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in the development of commercial vehicles (Light, Medium and/or Heavy Duty).
- Experience with aerodynamic certification and regulatory compliance activities.
- Experience defining CFD standards, methodologies and best practices.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and providing technical leadership.
- Strong understanding of vehicle development processes from concept design through certification.

To lead and deliver aerodynamic simulation and validation activities across Iveco’s commercial vehicle portfolio, ensuring robust CFD methodologies, successful homologation support, effective management of wind tunnel testing campaigns, and seamless coordination of internal and external resources to achieve project objectives within defined timelines and quality targets.
Salary Range
Contratto Collettivo Specifico di Lavoro per Iveco Group
1° Gruppo Professionale
Salary Range: 49.000-58.000€
Variable payment as per CCSL
