Summary
We are currently seeking a Truck Body and Trailer Shop Foreman to join our team at Hurricane Express. In this role, you will oversee shop operations and ensure that all equipment is maintained and repaired to the highest standards. Your leadership will foster a productive work environment while maintaining our commitment to safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the shop, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity.
- Communicate with drivers to determine repairs needed.
- Communicate with drivers (and Operations as appropriate) when repairs are completed
- Supervise and train shop staff on equipment maintenance and repair procedures.
- Oversee the repair and maintenance of all Class 8 Heavy Truck equipment, including tractor-trailers.
- Communicate with the Directors of Maintenance and Transportation for priority levels when multiple work orders exist. Monitor technicians to ensure quality of work is maintained and time on task is maximized. Communicate with the Director of Maintenance about any performance issues.
- Ensure all shop segments (truck service, trailer, new installation, and detailing) have clear instructions on work that must be completed and understand all applicable deadlines. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
- Coordinate with other departments to schedule repairs and minimize downtime.
- Monitor inventory levels of parts and supplies needed for repairs.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a managerial role within a Class 8 body shop and refrigerated trailer maintenance.
- Strong customer service and leadership skills to effectively interact with Operators and staff.
- Knowledge of industrial equipment repair, including hydraulics and welding techniques.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA, and related regulations.
- Ability to operate forklifts and other heavy machinery safely.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
