Automotive Technician

Sunset Westy – Valley West Automotive is looking for a skilled European Automotive Technician to join our team in Summerland, BC. This position is ideal for a technician experienced with Classic (air cooled) to New European vehicles such as Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche. One who enjoys diagnostic work, electrical troubleshooting, and precision mechanical repairs in a professional shop environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in European automotive repair, maintenance, and diagnostics, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Red Seal certification is welcome but not required for the right candidate with strong European vehicle experience.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for those with dealership experience or mechanic background to apply their skills and grow within a reputable automotive service center.

Duties

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues on European vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair automotive issues using schematics, diagnostic tools, and hand tools
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid replacements
• Utilize power tools and welding equipment for repairs and modifications
• Follow manufacturer specifications and safety protocols during repairs
• Use mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot complex problems and recommend appropriate solutions
• Maintain detailed records of services performed for each vehicle
• Ensure work area is clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
• Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs and recommended services clearly.
• Collaborate with the team to deliver efficient, high-quality service.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Automotive Technician or Mechanic, preferably on European vehicles (VW, Audi, BMW, Mercedes).
• Attention to detail and pride in workmanship
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and schematics reading
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during repairs or parts handling
• Experience with automotive repair, maintenance, and diagnostics required
• Comfort using modern scan tools and service software
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Good communication skills for customer interactions and team collaboration
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
