Automotive Sales Manager – Essential Duties
- Hires, trains, motivates, counsels, and monitors the performance of all salespeople.
- Directs sales staffing and training to enhance the development and control of sales programs.
- Establishes annual and monthly objectives for unit sales, gross profits, expenses, and operating profit.
- Monitors salesperson productivity and performance.
- Orders/acquires new- and used-vehicle inventory.
- Administers and monitors factory-sponsored programs.
- Displays, merchandises, and promotes new- and used vehicles.
- Reviews market analyses and sales reports to determine customer needs and volume potential, and develops sales campaigns to accommodate dealership goals.
- Serves as liaison between the sales department and other departments.
- Analyzes and controls expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements.
- Schedules and plans New Owner Clinics as a follow-up to the delivery process.
- Maintains a professional appearance.
- Attends manager’s meetings as requested.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must have a strong background in automotive sales.
- 5 years minimum sales experience required.
- Steady work and performance history.
- Outgoing personality with expertise at developing relationships (i.e., a people person).
- Excellent appearance, verbal/written communication, strong negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Must be a strong closer and possess the ability to ask for the sale and follow through.
Education and/or Experience
- Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
