We’re a busy and fast‑growing automotive service center with lots of opportunity for growth. Family owned and operated 8 bay facility.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Service Writer with a minimum of 3 years experience in a shop, preferably an independent shop. Must be able to operate a computer, type efficiently, and communicate effectively.
Duties
- Greet customers and provide excellent customer service
- Listen to customer concerns and accurately document vehicle issues
- Generate repair orders and provide detailed explanations of recommended services
- Communicate with technicians to ensure timely completion of repairs
- Provide estimates for automotive services and obtain customer approval
- Coordinate with parts department to ensure necessary parts are ordered and available for repairs
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and transactions
- Process payments and handle cash transactions
Skills & Qualifications
- Automotive service knowledge, including understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair processes
- Basic understanding of the anatomy of automobiles and how they work
- Ability to operate a computer and type efficiently
- Strong and effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers
- Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
- Proficient in computer systems and software used for generating repair orders and invoices
- Cash handling experience preferred
Additional Qualifications
Service writing: 3 years (required). Experience in sales is a plus. Management skills not required but certainly a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay: $70,000 – $100,000 per year, varies based on skill level, experience and efficiency.
Job Type: Full‑time. Expected hours: 45-50 hours per week.
Shift: Day shift. Work Days:
Monday to Friday. No weekends.
Work Location:
In person.
